つい最近、初めてベアルート株のアガベを買ったので、発根管理をやってきました！
今回、アガベを発根させたのは初めてでしたが、意外とあっさり終わってしまったのでビックリしました。
美株の発根を失敗して、枯らしてしまわないようにと緊張していましたが、友達に教わった通りにやったらうまくいったので、紹介できたらいいなと思ったので書いていこうと思います！
ベアルート株
ベアルート株とは何ですか？という方もいると思うので、まずはベアルート株について紹介していこうと思います。
ベアルート株は日本語に直すと抜き苗で、鉢に植わっていない状態の株のことです。
アガベ自体日本では自生していない植物なので、大体のアガベは国外から仕入れることになります。
アガベに付いている虫や寄生虫や病原菌などを一緒に運び込まない為に、乾燥させて国内に搬入しているそうです。
日本は他の国に比べて特に検疫が厳しく、乾燥させないと焼却処分されてしまうそうです。
この乾燥している株は根は死んでいるので、生きている根が新たに出てくるまでかなり時間がかかります。
そこで、根を出しやすくしてあげるために発根管理というものを行います。
発根管理のやり方
1.根と葉の整理
まず初めに、ベアルート株の根と葉の整理をします。
これは切った後の写真です。
写真撮るのを忘れてて、すでに発根してました(笑)
枯れている根はハサミで短く切り、枯れている葉は病気を持っている可能性もあるので剥がします。
普段使いしているハサミであれば、念のために除菌しておいた方がいいかもしれませんね！
僕は根を2㎜程度まで切りました。
心配な方も多いかもしれませんが、アガベは丈夫な植物なのでその程度では枯れません。
葉の方は玉ねぎのように根元をめくって剥がすと、うまく枯れている葉を取ることが出来ると思います。
バランスが悪い葉があれば一緒に取っても良いかもしれません。
小さめの株だとやりすぎると無くなっちゃうので、適度に調整しましょう！
2.アガベの消毒,殺菌
根と葉の整理が終わったら、次は殺菌剤に半日から1日沈めておきます。
僕はベンレート水和剤という殺菌剤を使いました。

使用方法は1ℓの水に1袋（0.5g）の粉を溶いて、中に沈めるだけです！
他にも殺菌剤はありますが、希釈倍率だけは間違えないようにしましょう！
間違えると、薬品焼けしたり奇形に育ったりしてしまうので注意です。
3.アガベをオキシベロンに浸ける
殺菌工程が終わったら、次は発根の補助をしてくれるオキシベロンという農薬に1日沈めておきます。
これもただ待つだけなのですが、殺菌剤と同様に長く沈めすぎると薬品焼けしてしまうので、長くても1日までにしましょう。
こちらも希釈倍率には気を付けてください！
また、こちらは人にも薬害があるので、なるべく素手で触らず目に入った場合は目をよく洗いましょう。
僕は100倍に薄めました。（農薬10mlに水1ℓ）

4.アガベをミズゴケに植える
次は、薬品を軽く洗い流してからミズゴケに植えます。
僕は、根が出たらすぐ土に植え替える予定だったので、透明なプラのコップにミズゴケを詰めて植えておきました。
ミズゴケを植えたカップは風通しの良いところに置いておきましょう。
乾いてきたなと思ったら水を少し足すといいですね。
僕はこのミズゴケを使っています。

ブロック状のミズゴケを買った場合は、下準備としてミズゴケをふやかしておく必要があります。
必要な量をビニール袋に入れ、40°前後のお湯を入れて袋を閉め1日寝かせましょう。
使うときに水は絞らず、少し滴る程度水を含ませて鉢やカップに入れます。
握って絞ってしまうと、栄養が抜け落ちてしまうので絞らないようにしましょう。
まとめ
発根したら、根を傷つけないように地面に植えてあげましょう。
発根管理は時間がかかりますが、難しいことはありませんでした。
初めてで枯らしちゃったらどうしようとかはありましたが、あっさりできたのでビックリしています。
植物は時間のかかる生き物なので、焦らずにゆっくり育てていきましょう！
